So! You’ve booked the job you’ve been so eager to get!….What do you wear?
Preparing for a job booking is quite simple. It’s very similar to what you would throw on to go to a casting too! What you decide to wear all depends your personality, level of comfort, and how you want to present yourself to others.
1. Be Comfortable
What’s comfortable for you may not be comfortable for me. Your agency can send you to multiple castings in just one day! Therefore, there is lots of running around. You don’t want to wear a tall heel all day long, as cute as they may seem. Here’s a brief list of a basic look to a booking or casting:
Simple all black or neutral look (very similar to your digitals look)
Hair is styled based on what casting is asking/looking for
It’s a long day so always pack snacks and water
Bring Extras! Bring heels if it’s a runway casting or if clients ask for it or just extra shoes In general. And an extra top or bottom if needed.
2. Time Yourself
There are so many locations that you’ll be given on how to get to these jobs. It’s much easier if you already live in the area but, if you’re new to the city or country, directions can be a nightmare. Plan way in advance on how you’re going to get there and it will be a breeeeze!
3. Communication is Key
Communication is the top method in almost all aspects of life. It is especially needed when preparing yourself for a casting or job too!
There have many times where me and a bunch of other models I was with were at the same booking and just confused on how to get upstairs or where the exact building was (thats New York for you). When this happened, I texted my agent right away, they reach out to the clients for help and BOOM! They let us know where to go.
Always communicate when needed. We’re not required to know everything!
4. Be You!
You have 0 to no obligation to dress in basic comfort clothes. Everyone’s version of “comfort” is different! If you want to pop out in something more out there then do it! You already got the job! It’s a new generation which means the level of presentation is changing. Clients want to see more diversity. Don’t be afraid to show your personality and give people an idea of YOU are!
